A Story to End

Me and my very great friend- were just mad
Thence, a myriad of crazy adventures we had.
We rowed across lakes, rivers we rafted,
Slept in tent-like sheds, we hand-crafted.

We were planning to gaze at the stars,
Thus we walked on the paths for no cars.
We were trekking to the peak of the hill,
Crossed a brook, a village, worked a mill.

And we lived on the edge while it lived in us,
But path unfolding, was that of risk, because
Thin line we were tracing, bordered the dread
“One damn misstep and you may end up dead!”

We were used to this, so felt no revolution,
To toe-tip at tip of the gorge- our resolution.
But there was an aspect we blindly did miss,
Stepped careful, cool, till we heard the hiss.

Edge of that moment at the very same rock,
I gazed at the sound and there to my shock
I caught a “lock on” of grave sight at my friend
By the beast whose stance was not to befriend.

Savage spring and the moment were tense alike,
This was the adventure we’d expect at a hike,
In a flash of my hefty effort, I raised my hand
Right when it sprung out like an elastic band.

Right when, I was shielding the love of my life
Inspiration and challenge, a beauty- my wife
It snapped, when I zipped, it pierced the flesh,
It’s venom creeping unto me all fast & fresh

Right when it pained- the instance it snapped,
Forthwith, until now, I felt stuck & trapped…
Slid off the slithery ring as it bit its tail
I saw it plummetting down the abysmal trail…

She pulled my hand- we crossed the path…
I bet you all can guess the aftermath…
Resourceful mine- she did her part
With vial of serum- she stuck me a dart…

“Snakes come & go- we’ve a path to follow…
Don’t pass out now or you’ll fall in hollow!”
I spent those ten miles like ten decades
Steering away from psychedelic charades…

And with my beacon, I was truthful & raw…
To rhyme, I wanted to laugh and to draw
I told her- I loved her at the end of each phrase..
All emotion- of rationale there left was no trace…

Died a few sparks as we reached hilltop camp,
And when they airlifted away with their clamp…
And by the time people in white did we pass
I realized that I’m stuck under a ceiling of glass

She kept on moving her lips- I couldn’t hear
This unbreakable wall- all could it bear
But not the message sailing in the wave
That I’m so in the shallow and your voice I crave…

It pains when all emotions stack up in a pile
With Herculean will, stretched a farewell smile
And blind- I was blind the last time I saw you
From the bed to the bad, all went & all flew

Blinder than a bat, lacking Provident light,
With my faith in myself I put up a fight
But to no devise, while facing the truth
I saw draining into abyss, all my youth

As by the time I realised that eyes lie,
Ears do and that touch does it amplify
The fact- a brain is useless with no heart.
With the heart this time- let us start.

As “toska” reveals the grim hollow hearth,
For the last time it feels there’s justice on Earth,
Right before my heart burned my head away
I exhaled: “My Wifey- I was there to stay.”

Weird Pathology

This song (bard) is written in Hinglish (first time ever by me), so will be relatable to all Hindi+ English speaking people:

“Bachpan ki meri dost- badi yaari hain bhai!
We have each other’s back, right until we die!”
Samay beeta zara, a bit we drew apart!
“Tu usse baat kari!”- (some problem’s in my heart!)

Bagal- tera kandha, honthon pe teri- smile…
(I don’t wanna see him around you for a mile!)
Bachpan ki meri friend, bachpan ka mera ride,
(He’s “dove-ing” her right there),- “My trying’s bonfide…”

“Tujhe kya ho gaya- as if you got a dent?
Please, tell me if he’s good- you’re my best friend!”
Uski baatein sunani- all the way she went…
(She’s more than my friend. How to drop a hint?)

Ye dono- boy & girl- badi ajeeb hain life!
Together & apart, hotey hain ye drive!
You watch them all along- samajh na aawe, haye…
Idhar- udhar ghumein, kyu dikhtey hain ye “high”?

It’s a weird pathology…
It’s a weird pathology…

Samay beeta zara, a bit we drew apart!
“Tera friend hain bada cute, uspe hain mera heart!”

Bagal- mera kandha, honthon pe meri- smile…
(Ho use kya gaya, why is he tailing for a mile?)
Saath hain mera banda, bachpan ka mera ride,
(Wo hume ghuma rha. This love ain’t bonafide)

(You love me, I’m right and that is the dent
I know he’s no good, because you’re my best friend!)
Uski baatein sunani- all the way I went…
(I’m ready and afraid- please, drop me a hint!)

Ye dono- boy & girl- badi ajeeb hain life!
Together & apart, hotey hain ye drive!
You watch them all along- samajh na aawe, haye…
Idhar- udhar ghumein, kyu dikhtey hain ye “high”?
